Dr. Barbara Bellar is a family medicine physician and an addictions medicine specialist at MetroSouth Medical Center. Located in the Blue Island health center, she has an extensive background in medicine, law and bioethics. After high school, Dr. Bellar served as a nun for four years before completing her residency at University of Illinois.
She was also previously a Major in the United States Army for seven years. Dr. Bellar strongly believes in the importance of a healthy spiritual life and incorporates prayer with her patients. Dr. Bellar has her Masters in Bioethics and Health Policy, and currently, she is working towards her Masters in Public Health. Her next goal is a Doctorate in Bio Ethics, which she currently teaches at Benedictine University. Dr. Bellar is also a licensed state and federal attorney. Her many hobbies include motorcycling, golfing, swimming and natural living.
