FREE WINDY CITY THUNDERBOLTS TICKET OFFERED TO SOUTHLAND STUDENT-ATHLETES WHO GET A PHYSICAL

Beginning May 10, southside student-athletes have an opportunity to get a convenient physical examination and receive a free ticket to a 2010 season Windy City Thunderbolts game (while supplies last).  The complete exams are provided by experienced MetroSouth Medical Center family practice physicians (in conjunction with SportlinkUSA) and fulfill school requirements for student-athlete physicals.  Appointments can be made at any of the eighteen school locations by visiting www.sportlinkusa.com

 “For those students who have outgrown their pediatrician, this is a really easy way for them to get their required school physicals from a family medicine physician in their neighborhood,” explains Dr. Mario Piverger, MetroSouth Health Center at South Holland family practice physician. “The free Thunderbolts ticket is our way of saying thanks and have a healthy summer,” he adds.

The student physicals cost $39.99, are covered by most insurance companies and conveniently scheduled throughout the Southland*:

 May 10           Marist High School, Chicago, beginning at 3 p.m.

May 13           Illiana Christian High School, Lansing, beginning at 9 a.m.

May 18           Thornridge High School, Dolton, beginning at 2:30 p.m.

May 19           Thornwood High School, South Holland, beginning at 2:15 p.m.

May 20           Thornton Township High School, Dolton, beginning at 2:30 p.m.

May 26           Chicago Christian High School, Palos Heights, beginning at 3:15 p.m.

May 27           Oak Lawn Community High School, Oak Lawn, beginning at 12 p.m.

July 22           Marist High School, Chicago, beginning at 10 a.m.

July 29           Moraine Valley Community College, Palos Hills, beginning at 7 p.m.

Aug 5             Martino Junior High, New Lenox, beginning at 8 a.m.

Aug 8             University of St. Francis, Joliet, beginning 9 a.m.

Aug 9             Calumet College of St. Joseph, Whiting, IN, TBD

Aug 10           Lockport Township High School, Lockport, beginning at 8 a.m.

Aug 10           Mother McAuley High School, Chicago, beginning at 2 p.m.

Aug 12           Arbor Park Middle School, Oak Forest, beginning at 4 p.m.

Aug 24           University of St. Francis, Joliet, beginning 4:30 p.m.

Aug 25           Central Middle School, Tinley Park, beginning at 11:15 a.m.

 The physical exam will adhere to the nationally recommended standards using the American Heart Association guidelines and will include the following:  

  • Physical Examination from a Board Certified Family Practice Physician
  • Medical History Review
  • Snapshot Echocardiogram
  • Vision Screening
  • Strength and Flexibility Screening
  • Orthopedic Evaluation
  • Blood Pressure and Pulse Measurements
  • Body Mass Index Measurement
  • Height and Weight Measurement

 Some area schools require school physicals in the spring and others at the start of the 2010-11 school year.  It is important to know your student’s school deadline.

The Windy City ThunderBolts, a minor league professional baseball team, plays home games at Standard Bank Stadium in south suburban Crestwood, IL. Their schedule can be viewed at:  www.wcthunderbolts.com.  Students receiving a Sportlink physical will receive a voucher for one free ticket which can be redeemed at the Thunderbolts box office during regular hours.  Additional tickets can be purchased at the same time.
